“My name is Pat, I’m 75 years old and have severe scoliosis, which is a sideways curvature of the spine. In 2017, I was diagnosed with a pinched nerve in my lower back that made my right knee completely numb. I also have arthritis. Due to my health issues, surgeons told me that back surgery was out. I tried everything: modern medicines, cortisone shots, and a lot of physical therapy. I also did pilates which helped, and saw other acupuncturists which kept me stable, but I still had pain.

Then starting late fall 2019, I began seeing Xin Xia at Healing Point Acupuncture Clinic once a week for acupuncture. What I like about her is she analyzes all your problems before she starts doing her procedures. You can tell Xin anything that’s bothering you. She is very focused and thorough in what she is doing.

When I see her, she keeps working on the same spots. I think her technique helps my body remember what it should feel like. Often during my treatment, she’ll have me stand up to see if the pain goes away. She can make it go away instantly. After just a month and a half of acupuncture with Xin, I can practically walk pain -free!

I didn’t realize how really great acupuncture was until I saw her. I’ve had shots in my knee before which may be a short-term fix—while acupuncture with Xin is long term fix. I’ve recommended several people to her.

Now, to stay healthy, I exercise, do pilates, acupuncture and walk watering.

Today I can still continue my small business which is graphic design. I’ve worked for Stanford University for 45 years—all my friends are there. It keeps me out and about, and I can walk without my walker. I don’t need a cane. I can also go out with my friends and enjoy my lifestyle. I can play with my grandkids. My family and friends are the most important things to me.
